UBEMI - UNITED BELGIAN MILLS - was founded in 1955 to represent the Belgian milling industry on export markets. Over the years, the quality image of Belgian flour has been promoted all over the globe and has made UBEMI a household name in bakery, biscuit and noodle industries worldwide. UBEMI is now the largest European exporter of flour. Thanks to a consistent policy of quality control, diversification, construction of efficient production facilities and exploiting logistical advantages, UBEMI now exports some 500,000 tonnes annually to more than 62 countries outside the EU. The majority of this production is shipped as conventional cargo, although there has been a large expansion in the amount carried as container cargo over the past decade, which now comes to more than 4,000 TEU per year. The transport possibilities also include direct shipping by coaster.
